She is often quoted by the media as one of the best actresses in Bollywood. So far, she has bagged five Filmfare Awards, four for Best Actress and one for Best Supporting Actress. She was nominated 13 times as the Best Actress at the Filmfare which is still a record.
For which films, she was given Filmfare Best Actress Award are- Dil(1991), Beta (1993), Hum Aapke Hain Kaun...! (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997). The great-grandniece of noted poet Rabindranath Tagore started her career as an actress in Satyajit Ray's 1959 Bengali film Apur Sansar.

Jaya Bachchan:
Jaya Bhaduri, also known as Jaya Bachchan, is another Bengali girl who got huge success and popularity in the Hindi film industry.
When she was 15-year-old, she started her acting career as a child artist in Satyajit Ray's Bengali film Mahanagar (1963), co-starring with Anil Chatterjee and Madhabi Mukherjee. Before acting in this film, she had also gathered experience in working with Suman, a 13-minute short film, and Dhanni Meye, a Bengali comedy where she performed as Uttam Kumar's sister-in law.
She made her appearance as an adult in Hrishikesh Mukherjee film,
Guddi in 1971. In this film, she played the role of a 14-year-old school girl.
With the film Bansi Birju in 1972, she first made pair with her future husband Amitabh Bachchan. In the same year, they also acted together in B.R. Ishara's Ek Nazar. But these two films failed to catch the attention of Indian audience.
It was obviously a bad time for her future husband Amitabh Bachchan as he was flop and most of the top actresses refused to work with him. She will be remembered in the mind of her fans because of her perfect combination of good looks and charming appeal. Madhubala is her stage name. Her original name is Mumtaz Jahan Begum Dehlavi. Being impressed by her performance, actress Devika Rani gave her the name. The meaning of Madhubala is “a woman of honey”.

Bhagyashree:
Bhagyashree made very short appearance in the Hindi film industry. In her short acting career, she didn’t act that much Hindi movies but she is still remembered to her fans because of her natural acting skill.
She first made her appearance in a television serial named Kachhi Dhoop by Amol Palekar. The story of this TV serial was made based on Little Women which was written by Louisa Mary Alcott.
Her acquaintances with acting happened without her expectation. She was requested by her next door neighbor Amol Palekar, who is a well-known actor-director, to act in the TV serial.
After the success of her first TV serial, she also acted in Honi Anhoniand Kisse Miya Biwi Ke.
Her first Hindi film was Maine Pyaar Kiya in 1989. In this film she starred opposite Salman Khan. The film was box office hit. In 1992, she acted in three films- Peepat's Qaid Main Hai Bulbul, K.C. Rani Mukerji:
Though she came from a Bengali origin film-oriented family, Rani Mukerji had to struggle hard to establish herself in the Hindi film industry. Making her short appearance in a Bengali film Biyer Phool(1992), she started her acting career. Her first Hindi film was Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat (1997) where she starred opposite Shadaab Khan. This film did not commercially do well in the box office, but her role of a rape victim was praised.
Starring opposite Aamir Khan in Ghulam (1998), she got huge success and it was a big breakthrough in her career. In the same year, she also appeared in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai co-starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. With this film, Karan Johar made her directorial debut. It was a hit film. After that she appeared in a number of successful movies which helped her to get National and Filmfare awards along with critical acclaim.
Kajol Devgan:
The cousin of Rani Mukerji, Kajol, is one of the few top stars in India. This talented actress is also known as one of India’s most successful female actors. She also came from a film family, her mother Tanuja was an actress and her father Shomu Mukherjee was a film director and producer.
Kajol made her debut in Hindi film with Bekhudi (1992). It was not a commercially successful movie. In her second film, Baazigar (1993) opposite Shahrukh Khan, she got her first commercial success.
Kajol made a good on-screen partnership with Shahrukh Khan and these two stars gave many hit films. Some of their successful movies are- Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai(1998), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) and My Name is Khan(2010).

Nargis Dutt:
The glorious memory of Nargis Dutt will never be faded in the mind of Hindi movie lovers. Her acting skill and beauty will make her alive all the time. This beautiful actress started her career as child artist inTalash-E-Haq (1935). At that time, she was six year old girl. At the age of 14, she got her first chance to act as an adult in Mehboob Khan's Taqdeer in 1943. In this film, she acted opposite Motilal.
In her acting career, she didn’t have to look back as she got never ending popularity for her adult roles. She gave many hit films but she will be remembered for her performance in Mother India in 1957. For her performance in this film, she got the first Filmfare Best Actress Award.
She also received many National and Filmfare awards during her career.
She died at the age of 51 due to cancer. After her dead, her son, Sanjay Dutt, made his first film appearance in Bollywood.
